Otemon Gate

The imposing main entrance displaying the shogunate's massive power.

Enter the castle grounds through this massive gate built in 1620. It features a "masugata" (box-shaped) layout designed to trap attackers in a kill zone. Unlike the concrete keep, this structure is an authentic survival from the Edo period that survived the Meiji Restoration and WWII.
