Chanakyapuri is more than an embassy district. It is a purpose-built landscape of independent India, where roads named for peace, truth, justice, policy, and Kautilya’s statecraft frame the country’s relationship with the world. The walk begins with sovereignty and public institutions before following the diplomatic stories of Indonesia, Russia, the United States, Egypt, Yugoslavia’s Serbian successor, Ghana, and Belgium. Along the way, architectural screens, flags, brick citadels, gardens, and even a surviving Lenin reveal how nations perform identity abroad. This tour is ideal for travelers interested in modern history, international relations, public art, or architecture. It also makes the Non-Aligned Movement tangible, presenting it not as passive neutrality but as an ambitious attempt to preserve independent judgment amid competing powers. Everything is interpreted from public sidewalks and park paths. The result is an unusual Delhi adventure in which street signs become political philosophy and guarded compounds reveal the changing ambitions of postcolonial statecraft.

Eleven determined marchers connect India’s freedom struggle to its diplomatic future.

Eleven sculpted figures stride behind Gandhi, transforming the Salt March into a procession toward modern India’s institutions. Traffic swirls around them, but their bare feet, staffs, and determined expressions hold attention. This is the tour’s prologue: independent diplomacy began with sovereignty claimed through mass political action.
